Poet's BIO
LaVar Jovaughn Henry was born in
1981 in Dover, Delaware. He lived with many different family members
throughout his life. Early in life, he was cared for by his
grandparents. Then he spent many years with his father and stepmother. He
also spent a few years here and there living with his mother and his
stepfather.
In his youth, LaVar often found himself far from many family members.
He had to cope with the loss of friends from one city to the next as
well as overcome struggles in school from constant changes in living
conditions. LaVar developed the ability to adapt to his surroundings,
which allowed him to see life differently than most children his age.
He became capable of finding new social groups and discovered ways to
blend in with those different than himself. He often overcame
loneliness and depression through drawing and poetry. He has been
active in different sports such as football and basketball and has also
dedicated himself to taking on new challenges.
LaVar graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance and banking from
Delaware State University. He put himself through school and has also
received other professional certification in areas such as insurance.
LaVar is an entrepreneur and now looks to prove himself as an author
and poet as he explores life through writing.
